ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to examine the effect of job design on secretaries performance a case study of Ethiope west local government council in Ethiope west Local Government, Delta State. Specifically, the study examined the effects of improper job design on secretarial performance. The study also, examine the job design strategies that exists in most organization. investigate if a secretary’s work is that have a definite job design.and finally, if secretaries satisfy their psychological and social needs. in Ethiope west Local Government, Delta State. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 77 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings revealed that the job design have an effect on secretarial performance of proper job. Also, job design has strategies that exists in various organization. Furthermore, a secretary’s work have a definite job design. And finally, secretaries satisfy their psychological and social needs. This is as the Pearson correlation test showed a positive significant relationship (.821**) between job design and secretarial proper job. The study recommend that adding knowledge to organizational studies about the secretarial labour force will certainly be beneficial for organizations. And also, In other for secretaries to perform very well their job description , their job design needs to be cut out for them
